Binance has recruited Jarek Jakubcek as Asia-Pacific Intelligence and Investigations Manager.
Jakubcek is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading cybercrime experts and is a former cryptocurrency specialist with the Dark Web team at Europol Cybercrime Center (EC3).
At Binance, he will lead efforts to coordinate the removal of malicious actors in the crypto ecosystem in conjunction with law enforcement in the APAC region.
During his seven years at EC3, he provided operational and strategic support for major cryptocurrency investigations. He also led the world’s largest platform of cryptocurrency experts with representatives from hundreds of law enforcement agencies internationally.
“With its growing role in the industry comes growing responsibility, of which Binance is taking the lead,” he said.

Jakubcek joined EC3 in 2014 shortly after its launch and became a driving force behind Europol’s pioneering activities in the field of cryptocurrency investigations. Prior to Europol, Jarek spent over five years with An Garda Siochana, the Irish National Police and Security Service, where he won international awards for the creative use of OSINT technologies. He has lived in five countries and earned two master’s degrees.
He has also played a key role in a number of high profile investigations into a variety of criminal activities including ransomware, dark web, corporate hacks, phishing incidents, investment fraud , kidnappings and money laundering. He has anonymized mixing services, published how-to law enforcement guides, hosted industry conferences, developed relationships with the cryptocurrency industry, and trained investigators around the world.
He joins Binance’s impressive security and investigation team which includes Tigran Gambaryan, Matthew Price, Nils Andersen-Röed, and Aron Akbiyikian.
