Carolina Place adds K9 detecting firearms to security team

PINEVILLE, NC (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Carolina Place in Pineville announced Wednesday that it is beefing up security with a new four-legged guard.

K-9 Carlos joins the mall’s security team. Carlos is a gun detection dog trained by Shallow Creek Kennels. He had previously been assigned to the Columbiana Center mall in Columbia after a shooting in April injured at least 12 people there.

Carlos will be tasked with patrolling the mall with his handler for guns. He was chosen for his friendly attitude. Buyers will likely notice him, but won’t know he even scanned them for guns.
