Laikipia Multi-Agency Security Team Recover Stolen Livestock

The National Police Service (NPS) commended the officers for their continued efforts in restoring peace and normalcy to Laikipia County.

In a post on Twitter, the service said a quick response by the multi-agency security team deployed to the county to restore peace resulted in the recovery of 20 goats in the Loniek area of the sub-county of Kirima.

The security team had received information that armed bandits had attacked three young boys grazing in Loniek and carried off the 20 goats.

The service said the security team reacted quickly and pursued the bandits heading towards the Airewa area.

When the raiders realized they were being followed, they abandoned the goats and fled. The 20 goats were taken to the Olmoran police station before being handed over to their rightful owner.

In September last year, the government declared Laikipia a disturbed area and launched a security operation following a series of attacks and burning of property by armed herders.
